Mr. Derek Jamieson
Educational Background
Mr. Jamieson graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (Magna Cum Laude). Additionally, he earned his Single Subject Credential in K-12 Music at Cal Poly Pomona.
Teaching Experience
Mr. Jamieson served as the Music Director at Artesia High School prior to coming to HMS.

Hobbies and Interests
Mr. Jamieson’s greatest interest is in sharing his passion for music with his students. He loves to see a child’s face light up when they finally get that difficult rhythm or passage. He also loves to feel the joy that his choir exudes when they first hear how beautiful they really can sound. He finds no greater sense of accomplishment than to see his students realize how much they have grown and how much fun they have had at the end of the school year.
If music is his greatest passion, then his second greatest passion lies in his dogs! He has two dogs that he loves playing with and taking to the dog park - Daisy, a Welsh corgi, and Pig, a beagle/bulldog mix. He also enjoys woodworking, traditional archery, cooking for friends and family, and traveling.

“It is truly remarkable to witness, firsthand, the difference that can be made in education when every member of the community shares a genuine interest in the success of the students. From the my first day teaching at HMS, I have seen how every member of the staff, from the teachers and parents, to the administrators and custodians, shows the utmost care that our students receive the very best education. This is, indeed, a winning team, and I am thrilled to be a part of it!”
